Welcome to the Personalized Alternative Education Department at Langstaff S.S.

 

Our Program

The Personalized Alternative Education program at Langstaff S.S. takes a holistic approach when creating individualized programs for students.  In addition to academics, special focus is placed on the student’s social, emotional, mental well-being. PAE uses unconventional classroom settings and personalized timetables in order to service the individual needs of each student.

The PAE program at Langstaff S.S. consists of 2 possible delivery models:

​Semes​tered with Continuous Intake & Blended Learning

  • The program operates on a reduced class size (1:16 teacher student ratio) and combines teacher directed courses with independent learning, blended learning, and credit recovery. Special focus is placed on completing compulsory courses for graduation.
     

ALEP (Alternative Learning Experience Program)
  • The Alternative Learning Experience Program is an opportunity for senior students to earn Community Based Education credits while working and learning workplace theory.  The program allows for flexibility in the student’s timetable while earning in-class credits.  Students have the opportunity to secure paid employment or a volunteer placement in order to participate in this program.
