Bi Weekly Bulletin: March 30 to April 10, 2026

A Message from your Administrators

Dear Langstaff Families and Community Members:

I hope that you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful March Break and are looking forward to the final few months of the semester.

I want to tell you about some wonderful student-driven activities that have taken place this week at LSS. Our Persian Club set up a "Haft-Sin" display in honour of Nowruz, the Persian New Year. This "Haft-Sin" display contains the seven essential symbols – Wheat Grass, Dried Fruit, Vinegar, Apple, Sumac, Sweet Pudding, and Garlic – that represent nature. The LSS students have thoroughly enjoyed walking past this very decorative display to learn more about Persian culture and traditions.

Also, this week, our Fitness Leadership Class ran a very successful "Relay for Life" assembly. The purpose of this assembly was to get the whole school excited for our big Relay for Life event, which will take place in early June, with the goal to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. "Relay for Life" is a really big deal here at LSS, and we know that this assembly has started to get the students and staff talking about this important event.

All second-semester Interim Report Cards were sent electronically to all students' GAPPS accounts and are also available on the YRDSB Family Dashboard. Please make sure that you ask your students to take a look at this Interim Report Card. This report card is a good way to see if your child/student is on track to earn their credits. We also hope that you found this information useful to talk to your students' teacher at our Parent/Teacher Interview Night, which also took place this week.

Also, this week was our Awards Assembly for our First Semester courses. Congratulations to all our Award winners; we are very proud of each and every one of you. As well, it was great to see so many parents/family at the Awards Assembly to help our students celebrate these important milestones.

Lastly, this week, March 26, was also Epilepsy Awareness Day. Countries around the world are asked to wear purple and learn about epilepsy so that we are aware of this ailment that affects so many in our community.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. S. Epstein

Principal

Congratulations - National French Essay Contest

Congratulations to our winner of the 2025-2026 National French Essay Contest! Grade 12 student, Daria D., won a scholarship in the French Second Language Category for Glendon Campus, York University. Her essay topic,

"Qu'est-ce qui est le plus important : agir, écouter, ou parler?"  (What's more important: doing, listening, or talking?) allowed her to explore the qualities she values most in people; whether it's taking bold action, showing care through attentive listening, or sparking ideas in lively debate.

The winning essays can be read on the French for the Future website.
