Bi Weekly Bulletin : May 11 to May 22, 2026

A Message from your Administrators

May is here, and we are finally getting some beautiful weather. All of our spring sports teams, including badminton, volleyball, flag football, track and field, and even mountain biking, have athletes from Langstaff competing with schools across York Region. May is an exciting time of year with our final field trips happening, a mental health day with students from our feeder schools, the upcoming athletic banquet, best buddies prom, and senior movie night coming soon.

Our students in need are being supported with after school programs and credit rescue to help ensure our students succeed.

June brings the Grade 9 Math EQAO test, culminating activities and exams starting in the middle of the month. We hope all of our bears finish the year strong and do well on their final exams. Last but not least, we have prom and our graduation ceremony, celebrating the amazing accomplishments of our 2026 graduating class. We are so proud of all of our students and want to wish them well as they head off into their summer and their very bright futures.

Mr. D. Schellenberg

Vice Principal

Relay for Life is back at Langstaff!!

Dear Langstaff Families and Community Members,

We are proud to announce that Relay for Life is back at Langstaff!! This year's event will take place on June 4th from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Langstaff's track and field. Students who sign up will have the opportunity to participate in exciting activities throughout the day, and walk the track in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

What is Relay for Life?

Relay for Life is a student-organized fundraising event that raises money to support services and groundbreaking research for the Canadian Cancer Society. This meaningful and moving event allows students to build school spirit while giving back to the community and honouring those affected by cancer.

Throughout the event, we will celebrate cancer survivors and honour those we have lost to this disease. It is truly a powerful experience that brings our school community together for an important cause.

Registration & Participation

We encourage all students to form a Relay for Life team with their friends!

All participants must:

  • Pay the $25 participation fee through School Cash Online
  • Register on the LSS Relay for Life page at relayforlife.ca/langstaff
  • Complete registration by April 30th

The participation fee includes registration, a participant t-shirt, and a luminary bag.

Fundraising Expectations

We are asking all student participants to raise a minimum of $60 per person.

Most fundraising will be completed online by reaching out to family and friends through the Relay for Life platform. In addition, each participant will receive a donation envelope for any cash contributions they may collect.

All donation envelopes will be collected just prior to the event.

Our Progress So Far

Our Langstaff Bears have already raised over $6,400 for the Canadian Cancer Society. We are incredibly grateful to all of our Langstaff families and community members who are helping make this possible.

Sponsor Recognition

We would also like to recognize and thank our first official sponsor: Baked at Mina's,@baked.at.minas,a business owned by one of our very own Langstaff Bears!

If you are interested in sponsoring our event and/or making a donation, please reach out to Mrs.Burley (information below).

Looking Ahead

This is going to be a truly special event for LSS. We are excited to see what our school community can accomplish in support of such an important cause, all while building school spirit, making memories, and having fun along the way.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope your child will join us for this meaningful and unforgettable experience.

Langstaff Humanitarian Outreach Book Drive

Langstaff Humanitarian Outreach is proud to share the success of our recent book drive, where we collected over 1,000 books thanks to the generosity of our school community.

All donations will be given to Second Life Books, an organization that redistributes books back into the community to promote literacy among both children and adults. Through partnerships with groups such as The Children's Book Bank, these books will help provide greater access to reading resources for those who need them most.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make this initiative such a success! The winning homerooms got a pizza party. Ms. Outten, Ms. Burley and Ms. Derohanesian's homerooms collected the most books.
